Welcome to our donations page! Because Franklin County Literacy Council is a nonprofit organization, your support is essential to the success of our mission to lift our community through adult education.
Not sure where to start? No need to worry. There are several ways that you can support the FCLC’s efforts to increase literacy in our communities.
The Franklin County Literacy Council is a non-profit agency 501(c)(3), and though it is a subsidiary program of Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 – a local educational service provider- the FCLC receives a major portion of its funding through donations and grants from community and government organizations such as The United Way, F&M Bank, and Pennsylvania Department of Education, as well as from generous individual contributors like you.
If you would like to make a monetary contribution to the Franklin County Literacy Council, your donation may be sent to: Franklin County Literacy Council, 305 W. Commerce St., Chambersburg, PA 17201
(Please make check or money orders payable to (LIU-12 Franklin County Literacy Council)
Another option is a donation of supplies. The literacy council is always in need of the following:
Notebook paper, three ring binders, envelopes, paper goods for the kitchen, stamps, index cards, highlighters, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, adult and children’s books that are in good condition.
Monetary donation not an option? Give the gift of time -VOLUNTEER!
The gift of time is priceless, especially to those you will teach as a volunteer tutor. The gift of your time will impact a life in incalculable ways. In order to be a tutor, the following requirements must be met, per PA State law:
- A Bachelors Degree (or working towards one).
- Required PA State background checks and clearances. (Don’t let this deter you. We will help you with this fairly easy process!)
- A minimum of three hours per week of tutoring.
- Attend tutor training and professional development sessions.
- Document tutoring sessions using FCLC’s: Weekly Attendance Report, Monthly Progress Report, and Monthly Lesson Plan.
If making a long term commitment isn’t an option, but you still want to contribute, consider volunteering as a support member during fundraisers, public events, or in a clerical capacity.
